Cab ride to the hotel. Of course NYC drivers! My hand was not completely black and blue from Rainer being nervous about our non-English speaking taxi cab driver.
After an full morning of traveling our first taste of NY: Pizza! We found a great pizzeria close to the hotel.
Also on the first day, first stop after lunch, the American Girl doll store. Granddad gave Ava some money so she bought herself her first American Doll. It was one of the small ones. We had to ask where they were. She is so proud!!

We had a great trip to NYC. We got up for an early Southwest 6:30 flight that connected in Chicago and landed in New York's LaGuardia airport at 1pm. Ava loved the plane rides. We had to quite her down on take off and landing because she was so excited. The people around us just laughed. After a 30 minute cab ride we were at our hotel, Courtyard by Marriott at 52nd and 3rd in the heart of Manhattan.
