We bought a new house...here is the story:
Rainer and I were talking one day about the fact that Ava has one more year of pre-school before she starts Kindergarden. Rainer mentioned to me that there are affordable houses in a neighborhood in Franklin that is walking distance to an elementary school. So I said we should put it on the market and see what happens. We called our realtor a few minutes later and got the process started. A couple of days later we had a sign in the yard and we were on the market! We showed the house 2 days after that for the first time. We were not ready for what happened next...the people who saw the house first called to see the house again, an hour later someone else called to see the house the same night. We went to dinner and play at the park while complete strangers wondered though our crib. Our realtor called before we even got home and said we might have a contract the next day. Sure enough, we did!! Bottom line - the house was on the market for less than two weeks and the second family to see it bought it!!
To back peddle a bit...during all this we decided to go look at a few houses before I went out of town for a week. We just wanted to know what we were getting ourselves into. We saw 4 houses that day and fell in love with one in particular.
So... I went out of town the day after we showed the house 2 times with a possible contract coming. We finally settled on asking price with us paying the buyers closing costs - since they are first time home buyers. Now that we had a contract on our house we decided to put a contract on the house that we liked. Finding out more about this house, we learned that it has only been on the market for 28 days and had already had 3 contracts that fell though. Two fell through because of financing and the other because of a marriage that reconciled. We ended up getting the house for eight thousand less than asking price. We are so blessed!! We know that God had a hand in this whole process - from the first thought to a final contract on our new house. The house that we are buying has hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms, tile in the kitchen and baths, large master bed and bath, new heat and air unit, new air condition compressor, and even the hot water heater is less than three years old. To compare the other three houses we looked at that had all carpet, linoleum, original heat and air units, and smaller master bed and bath.
We know that God saved this house just for us and we are so excited about moving to a great community. We will now be so much closer to our church and down the street from Rainer's aunt and sister. A move to Franklin was something that we had prayed about for years but it just took one day for God to tell us that it was time. We are still in awe of how everything worked out.
