Ava went to swim lessons a few weeks ago. It was at a family's house in Columbia, 20 minutes south of us. They have been teaching kids to swim for over 20 years. So long, that their kids are instructors now. Anyway, they are very good and firm. They teach from a safety first standpoint. They first day the head lady told us that kids crying does not phase them anymore. The first day we did hear some crying (aka, screams). They told us after the first day that Ava was very polite, "No thank you, I changed my mind, I don't want to learn to swim anymore."
So, now Ava can jump off the diving board and swim face down. She is no longer scared of the water. She had a great time at the beach swimming in the ocean and pool. It was a great confidence builder.
